Sunday's Coming...

Keep on holdin' on... There's gonna be a breakthrough!

Not sure about you, but I love music! I love what it does for my heart, mind, soul and strength. Not sure about you, but music is one of things in my life that speaks directly to me. Zach Williams song, "Sunday's Comin'" is just one of those songs. I think for a lot of us we don't realize what exactly Jesus did for us on that morning of his resurrection. Let me share with you a lesson learned this week.

First, let me share some of Zach's lyrics with you:

When your week feels like a beat down
And you can't tell the night from day
And you're tired of fighting battles
When all you feel is pain, oh
It's a heavy weight
There's hope on the horizon
'Cause the cross was not the end
Let joy come in the morning
And, child, lift your head
Don't you give up yet

Keep on holdin' on
There's gonna be a breakthrough
Keep on holdin' on
Don't stay buried in that grave
If He can roll the stone
He can send the darkness runnin'
Might feel like Friday
But your Sunday's comin'
It might feel like Friday
But your Sunday's comin'

When you and I understand that Jesus not only made a way for our debt of sin to be paid and for us to have a way to forgiveness, but he also made a way for you and I to live in a brand new kind of life (a life of light and not darkness)!

I've had those moments in my life that were very dark and to be honest I wasn't always feeling close to Jesus in those moments (some of my own doing and others done by the circumstances of this broken world). But I can now say that even when I was feeling alone and seemingly lost in the darkness - God was still there... Jesus was still there... the Holy Spirit was still working! You see Jesus has never given up on me. He has always been right there with me. It might feel like Friday, but Sunday's Comin'.

"Disruptivo" is a Spanish word that translates to "disruptive" in English. It means causing or tending to disrupt, interrupt, or cause unrest. It can refer to something that creates a disturbance or a significant change, often in a positive way like disruptive innovation. The core meaning of "disruptivo" is to interrupt or cause unrest, often in a way that challenges the status quo. It can be used to describe individuals, ideas, products, or even businesses that introduce significant changes or cause upheaval.

If I think about it long enough (I've had 28 years following Jesus to think about it)! But if I think about it long enough I'm more convinced than ever that Jesus was "disruptivo". When the stone rolled away and He was resurrected - it was a disturbance to the rulers of this world; literally to the rulers and unseen powers of darkness. It was an event that produced a "significant change" to the darkness (the darkness felt on Friday). Jesus being raised to new life was for sure was an interruption and caused some unrest to this darkness.

What the Devil thought was a great victory turned out to be his crushing defeat. Jesus was the individual who came teaching new ideas and new ways of living. These new ways were really old ways, but the people had never really heard them taught like Jesus did. These new ways (heavenly ways) were thoughts and practices that would help people find their way back to the Father and would allow us to live in a new Kingdom (a Kingdom of light). By watching and listening to Jesus - the people (all of us) would have access to the Father and would be able to see a real life example of living out holiness and righteousness. Jesus was "disruptivo". You might feel like it's Friday, but Sunday's Comin'!

What I'm convinced of more than anything is that Jesus disrupted the reglious leaders of the day. He disrupted the powers of darkness. What seemed like the end was really the continuation of God's plan to restore His Creation to new life. This new life is being experienced now by the all followers of Jesus. You, if you've given your life to Jesus, are living in the Kingdom of God. It's a Kingdom of light and not darkness.

1 Corinthians 2:5-7 New Living Translation

5 I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God. 6 Yet when I am among mature believers, I do speak with words of wisdom, but not the kind of wisdom that belongs to this world or to the rulers of this world, who are soon forgotten. 7 No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began.

Ephesians 6:11-13 New Living Translation

11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.

THE FUTURE GLORY

Romans 8:18-25 New Living Translation

18 Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. 19 For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. 20 Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, 21 the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. 22 For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. 24 We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it. 25 But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)

Zach's song reminds us:

Keep on holdin' on

There's gonna be a breakthrough

Keep on holdin' on

Don't stay buried in that grave

Romans 8:31-34 New Living Translation

31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

If He can roll the stone

He can send the darkness runnin'

Romans 8:35-37 New Living Translation

35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And, child, lift your head

Don't you give up yet

Romans 8:38-39 New Living Translation
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
