WHAT MUST I DO TO BECOME A MEMBER AT FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH?
There are 5 truths found in the Bible about people becoming part of the body of Christ. They are:
BELIEVE: Have Faith in Jesus Christ as God's Son and Savior to all people
CONFESS: Be not ashamed to call on the name of Jesus for forgiveness and salvation
REPENT: Be aware that you are a sinner and turn back to God through Jesus Christ
BE BAPTIZED: Be obedient to the Scriptures and to God's plan for salvation
LIVE A HOLY LIFE: Knowing that each person is not perfect, but living out the fact that every
Christ Follower is called to be more like Jesus today than they were yesterday.
DO I HAVE TO BE BAPTIZED TO BECOME A MEMBER?
Any person who has trusted in Jesus as the only Son of God, confessed and repented of their sins, and who has willingly been immersed into Christ is already part of the family of God. We do not baptize for membership nor do we require anything else for membership. Any immersed believer may become a member of First Christian Church regardless of where they were baptized.
We think there are three FAQs about being a member at First Christian Church...
FAQ 1: MEET TOGETHER
The Bible tells us to not stop meeting together (Hebrews ...). When the members of any church commit themselves to worshipping together, praying together, serving together, caring for one another and just doing life together the body is encouraged, empowered and equipped to share the gospel of Jesus in a healthy way. That's why we believe that members should make every effort to attend one of our weekly services to help stay connected to the body.
FAQ 2: PUT YOUR FAITH INTO ACTION
When a person becomes a follower of Christ and dedicates their life to Jesus, they are acting upon their faith that Jesus is the Christ, Son of the Living God and they are commiting their life to Jesus as LORD AND SAVIOR. This dedication urges us as members to put our faith into action. We are not called to sit on the sidelines and just enjoy our new life and freedom. As Christians we are called to a life of ministry and carrying our cross daily. Members of First Christian Church are challenged to put their time, talents and resources into action as they live out their daily lives for Christ.
FAQ 3: BE REAL - BE YOU!
God has gifted each Christian with the gifts to make the body of Christ work together properly. Your gift is no less important than someone else's gift. We believe that each member has a place in the body. Each member has a special calling that God has given them and if they don't fulfill that calling - the body is left with a hole that can not be filled by anyone else. You matter! Your life is part of the story God is telling the world. So Love God, Love People and BE REAL!
